Some speculated that maybe it’s because of the racism in the game, or that the localization team would have trouble translating the game properly into English, as they have established in the main Ace Attorney games take place in the U.S rather than in Japan. Since its release, there have been many theories as to why the game was never localized. Released in 2015 on the Nintendo 3DS, DGS takes place in early 1900s Japan and England, with the main character being Phoenix Wright’s ancestor, Ryunosuke Naruhodo (Naruhodo is Wright’s surname in the Japanese games). Unlike “Ace Attorney Investigations 2” which was never localized due to the poor sales of the first game, the reason for “Dai Gyakuten Saiban” (translated in English as “The Great Ace Attorney”) or “DGS” not being localized is currently unknown.
